On the red carpet for ‘Life of Pi’, the Closing Night Film at the 35th Mill Valley Film Festival. Cindy Maram of Dig In Magazine discusses with director Ang Lee what inspired him to turn the best selling novel by Yann Martel into a movie and direct the film. Lee also discusses his reasons for casting newcomer Suraj Sharma to play the role of Pi, the main character in the film. In 2006, Ang Lee won an Academy Award for “Brokeback Mountain” (2005) and is the director of “Hulk” (2003) and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000). “Life of Pi” won the Audience Favorite Award at the 35th Mill Valley Film Festival.
