You may not know his name but most people alive today will have heard at least one of his pieces of his music, if they have ever watched a film or certain television programmes. Writing over 500 film scores in his lifetime, this is the story of his life. The Oscar-winning Italian film composer died at the age of 91, his birthday was last November. For the man, where music was his life and his works have touched the whole world.

Morricone, who was simply known as “Maestro” in his home town of Rome, scored more than 500 films over seven decades.

Ennio Morricone, OMIR was an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and trumpet player who wrote music in a wide range of styles. Morricone composed over 400 scores for cinema and television, as well as over 100 classical works.

  2. A sad day indeed. Does anybody remember the score to Round Mdnight which beat his magnificent score to The Mission at the oscars? A brillant composer of not just film scores but classical pieces as well . Rest in Peace.
