I have some exciting travel news for you today – I can’t believe I’m saying this! OPEN FOR INFO!

We adore travel, and showing our 2 sons what the world has to offer, and I am so thrilled to be able to share with you our exciting travel update that we are going to be heading off for a California road trip in a few short weeks!!

The decision to book this trip did not come easy, of course we desperately want to do it, but we are budgeting so hard to buy a house and it was hard to make this choice to spend some of the savings on this trip, but travel is such an enriching experience and I know this is a great investment into our lives and my work.

  1. How long are you going for? I’m so excited to follow your trip on insta!
We’re about to book flights to San Fran – have never been, desperate to go! Would you recommend flying into LA or San Fran?
    Happy holidays!! X

  2. So looking forward to watching your Vlogs on this. We're taking our boys to San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Death Valley and then across and up the Pacific highway staying at Monterey before flying home, in October and really looking forward it. This will make me more excited! xx

  3. Wow, I'm SO looking forward to hearing more about this. For me, I've never been brave enough to do a road trip (we have a 6 year old and 3 year old too) but I would love to hear more about this, especially if you say it comes in at a similar price to a villa holiday, the cost always seemed higher in my mind. I'd love to know: how long you're going for, whether you have to pre book your accommodation beforehand or if you just arrive at the destination and find somewhere, the cost all in at the end including your food and car hires etc. I'd love to see a bit more of the planning side x

  4. Oh my goodness I'm so excited for you! We've done a similar route a few times with the kids and have loved it. I recommend the Monterey Bay Aquarium – it's quite expensive, but really good and set out for children really well. Also, if you need somewhere to stretch your legs or have a picnic after going to Solvang, the Nojoqui Falls County park is a peaceful pretty place. But we walked 20 minutes from the car park to the amazing waterfall only to find it had dried up!!
    Have a brilliant time!!

  5. A couple of add ons if time permits: San Luis Obespo – very cute town of Rte 1. It’s worth even just a stop for lunch and a little walk through. If you do go to Sausalito, check out the houseboats – like a 25 min walk away from town with kids. It’s technically private-ish property but I’ve always been able to walk around then without any issues. They even rent out a couple of houseboats in that area if you so don’t have a hotel booked yet. If you can, go to Sonoma/Russian river valley – lots of outdoorsy stuff, wine country, depending on season whale watching. If you ever go back to CA I would highly recommend going to Lake Tahoe. It’s my favorite place in CA. It’s just gorgeous and the perfect family destination. I used to live in SF so let me know if you need recommendations there too!!

  6. Good for you! I live near Portland Oregon and haven't seen much of California because most of our holidays were spent going to London to see my husband's family and had some amazing short visits to various parts of England (my favorite country in the world!) and now we go to Mexican resorts every year. BUT I did go to Santa Barbara, CA. for a couple days with my daughter and loved it and another time we went to a darling little town on the coast called Cambria so we could go up the road a few miles the next Day to Hearst Castle!

  7. Silent viewer here usually but ahhhh I’m just so excited for you! I did a verrrry similar road trip a month before buying our house in 2017! ☺️ I actually can’t wait to see all your content as we just got back a week ago from a longer westcoast roadtrip, something was pulling us back too, and I’m currently in the post roadtrip blues 🙊🤦🏻‍♀️

  8. This sounds amazing Lara! I'm so excited to watch all your vlogs! Doing a self drive has been on our list for years but we put it off with the boys so can't wait to see your videos! xx
