'I prayed for this one': Musk gets emotional as astronauts return

The billionaire SpaceX CEO, left, rushed to Houston from the company’s headquarters in Hawthorne, California to welcome astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken, top right, home on Sunday. A clearly moved Musk spoke after his private company became the first to flew to the ISS carrying astronauts. ‘This day heralds a new age of space exploration. I’m not very religious, but I prayed for this one’, he said. Hurley said: ‘It’s a little bit overwhelming to see everybody here considering the things that have gone on the last few months since we’ve been off planet.’ The two men were greeted by a small masked-gathering of family and officials, including Musk. Their mission, named Demo-2, also marked the first time NASA launched astronauts from US soil in nine years. Sunday’s arrival was also the first water landing by NASA since 1975, bottom right.
