So Resident Evil 4 is the Resident Evil 4 of survival horror. What do I mean by that? Well it’s a game that’s so synonymous with the revolution it brought about and is the turning point for the genre of survival horror that while a lot of things can get compared to it for what it did to horror games, nothing can really be compared to it aside from itself… look I dunno it’s 2 AM as I’m writing this.

Look I’ve intentionally left out the effect that RE4 had on RE5 and RE6 because simply put I haven’t played them and I prefer not to talk about things I haven’t properly played for myself. Those video(s) are coming since I’ve got all the time in the world now.

  1. Getting burnt on april fools… ouch…
As someone who got thrown out about a month and a half ago, in a way that amounts to "this isn't legal, but you fighting this is going to cost you your legs, kidney, half of your liver and a lung, plus, it's technically, in the loosest definition of the term 'legal', so i fucking dare you", i kinda know how that feels… :/
(Got fired mid-contract term, after my boss went back about 90 years in time and dug up some laws that really shouldn't even exist anymore… loopholes, i got fired by means of loopholes…)

  2. No one is complaining about sponsored ads but you. I think it would be smart to let your patreon supporters vote if you should accept an ad sponsorship or not (given you have a choice).

  3. Hello Charlatan big fan of your videos mate, but I must ask you are you using a mouse aim mod ,as I'm sure you're well aware that the standard PC controls for Resident Evil 4 are terrible and due to my disability I find it difficult to use a controller especially for first and third person shooters.Any suggestions you have to improve the PC controls on RE 4 would be much appreciated.

  4. I have to wonder why people hold out for remakes of perfectly good games at this point…
The RE2make and RE3make have both shown the devs are more than willing to cut features or content that made the originals enjoyable experiences in their own rights. Mind you, both of those remakes are perfectly suitable games that have their very own strengths and that honestly kick ass – but just taking a look at it in a vacuum doesn't cut it. When you look at it in comparision to the originals, at least on the story aspects (as incomprehensible as the story always has been), both remakes only have the characters names and setting, while messing up all surrounding notes.
It's basically a motto of "If I weigh less I'll run faster in this competition, so might as well hack of a leg."

  6. Resident Evil 4 is usually mentioned when discussing the over-the-shoulder camera placement as the one that did it first but Ghost Recon 2 did it before RE4. RE4 is the more popular of the two but it would be amiss to not mention GR2 when talking about that kind of camera placement.

  7. I'm irked by the port comparison. Imagine if RE4 was ported to the Switch, then backported onto PC as RE4: Special Edition with minimal changes and the old RE4 being removed from the store (while also breaking compatibility with a library of thousands of already existing mods – which don't come into the picture here) – also costing $60 for a 2005 game. That's when they become comparable. It's good to have pretty much the exact same (bug-free, mind) game on as many platforms as possible, while not doing the scummy Bethesda thing. Not an issue.

  8. I don’t know a remake for Re4 remake would be a good thing for it considering that Re3 was rushed and had a lot of cut content. For the most part it look like a reskin of the Re2 remake only witch some additional features. If they treat Re4 remake the same way like they did for the other 2 remakes it will result with a water down version of the superior original version of Re4. But that’s if they do it that way.

  9. Resident Evil 4 is one of those games I'll probably never play again not because I disliked it but because I loved it so much that I played it so many times in a short span following it's original release that I burned myself out on it. Also shame on all of you who didn't buy a Gamecube to play this game and waited for the shady PS2 port, between this and Melee there would still be no reason not to own a gamecube in 2005 even if not for all the other games on it.

  10. The iphone version of 4 isn't really the game. It's more a portable shooting game with an RE4 coat of paint. But, you still have the number right because it was ported to the Zeebo, which is some random console that was released in Brazil (I think).

  11. The best part about the ports? RE4 was one of 5 Capcom games, that were supposed to stay exclusive to GameCube, but in the end, it became one of the most ported games.

  12. I feel like the controls for this didn't age well enough to warrant that many ports.
(Full disclosure, I stopped playing this game after a couple hours.)
