Rush to book summer breaks in Europe after deal to lift travel restrictions – BBC News

Travel firms are seeing a huge rush to book summer holidays after a new deal means restrictions on travel to many countries in Europe will be lifted from July 6th.

A new “traffic light” system will set risk levels for individual countries – with a “Green” rating allowing unrestricted travel. Many destinations including France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey are likely to be open to British tourists.

It means that holidaymakers will be able to return to the UK without having to self-isolate for 14 days.  The Foreign Office will also lift its advice against ‘all but essential travel’ to low or medium-risk destinations, making it possible to obtain travel insurance.

However the continued easing of restrictions will depend on the UK maintaining a low level of coronavirus infections, in order for other countries to accept British tourists.

  1. These world leaders still do not get it on how to stop this madness! All world leaders governments should ban only all international leisure travel for at least the next 4 weeks. This is how the Covid-19 virus originally got transported across the world. Sorry tourism industry! This will allow all other industries and businesses to possibly run normally if this is done today. It is not too late to do this, restrict all international leisure travel today for at least 4 weeks and we will all witness has fast this Covid-19 virus will stop spreading across the world. JUST DO IT!

  2. I don't need to travel to England, for the only thing I care about, when it comes to England, English Football and I can watch on the tele, here in Canada. I'm safer over here, with just over 105K infections. The city, I live in, only has 3 cases! So I would be an idiot, to travel to The UK, where they have over 300K and want me to self isolate? who the fuck, comes up with these dumb ideas! The whole world has covid19, dumb, fat tossers!

  3. HOLIDAY INSURANCE: If you or your partner have Covid 19, but show no signs of it until 3 or 4 days into the holiday, does your insurance cover the medical expenses and the return flights? Does it cover the well people in the family if they need to stay on for a week or so?
It's not like Covid 19 has actually gone away – there are still lots of infections and the death rate has plateaued at about 140 every single day…

  4. I suggest my country Serbia 🇷🇸 to everyone! Very open and very stable current situation! I just uploaded a Video interview with one of the first tourists in my city (Belgrade) (from London) after COVID-19 lockdown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz07daaSR4w Please check it! There is a lot of valuable information for people who plan to travel in the near future.

  5. It has never been so cheap to travel Europe in summer and never will be. Can’t blame those that will want to travel despite the virus. Especially when we see that because of the crowds in the sights closer to home, it might be actually safer to travel further away and avoid crowds.

  6. Just stay home and spend the money in the UK … it needs it!
Amazing people are so desperate – as if life or death. :-/

  7. Trump promised to make America First!!! Promise Kept!!! America is First among the countries “banned” from entering Europe due to coronavirus control measures or lack there of!!!🤣🤣 🤣

  8. Holiday destinations tried opening up only to the safest countries but because their people are too sensible and aren't rushing to travel yet it forced their hands. Trust me we don't want you we want your money and you're the only ones stupid enough to give it us 😂

  9. The only website I depend upon for weekly paychecks of $2965 is this. look up in Google this excluding gaps PaidToB eHo me .c o m
