Thousands of Scottish fans have made their traditional pilgrimage to Trafalgar Square in London ahead of Friday night’s crunch World Cup qualifier with England at Wembley. Wearing kilts, waving flags and singing patriotic songs, the travelling fans certainly made their presence felt as the hours tick down to the big match. The ‘takeover’ of Trafalgar Square became a traditional part of Scotland’s biennial visits to Wembley in the British Home Championship in the 1960s and 1970s, and clearly remains alive with a new generation today.
