Shen Yun Opens on Mexico City to a Packed House

Shen Yun Performing Arts performed at a packed house at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City from May 4 to 6.

“It’s the third time I have come to see Shen Yun and I love it,” said Maxine Woodside, a radio and TV host. “The men are so athletic, and the women are beautiful; the costumes, the lighting, the interaction between the backdrop and all the visuals were beautiful; I love it, it really is a performance well worth watching.”

Woodside is a radio and TV host for “Queen of the Radio.”  She also is the main host of the radio show “Todo para la Mujer,” which has been transmitted through Radio Formula since 1989.

“The energy, the spirituality, the tenderness the women have, it really gets to your heart. It’s a performance well worth watching, it’s beautiful,” said Woodside. “The soprano was incredible, what an amazing voice; and the erhu was incredible, they’re such geniuses, beautiful. The dancers give you such a tender feeling that you want to hug them, they’re precious; the colors, the dance, I loved everything. Visually, it’s gorgeous and it gets you through the eyes and it goes directly to the heart, it’s amazing.”

“They go from the earthly to the divine, and from the divine to the earthly, and in all that we can see a reflection of us. What is more, each story, in summary, is perfectly told,” said Carmen Delgado, an actress. “They are rounded, nothing is missing, and the ease with which the human being can be perfect, that is something wonderful, to see the perfection of the movements.”

The New York-based classical Chinese dance and music company visited Mexico City for its fifth time since 2013 with a mission to revive the divinely inspired 5,000-year-old Chinese culture.

”The interior is the universe, the universe is within each of us. Nothing is from the outside to the inside, everything is created in our inner self by our powerful mind, which is the one that makes them fly and do those wonderful things. There we can see the power of the mind, of divine perfection,” Delgado added.

“Yes, of course (you can tell the dancers are Falun Gong practitioners to enable them to perform like this); otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to transmit that beautiful and spiritual energy to the audience. I love it (the fact that they also revive the human values),” said Woodside. “I wish there were more shows like this, because what we’re missing now in society is getting our values and the spirituality back because the world is going through a very difficult period.”

  1. Do you guys know if the Mexican government asked the Chinese government to bring "Shen Yun" to Mexico or if the Chinese government decided for themselves to go to Mexico to perform this show?

    I'm just curious thank you.
