Hugo Gariepy had been visiting the Taureau Reservoir in Quebec, Canada, with his girlfriend Caroline Methot and a group of friends on Saturday. The entrepreneur decided to test his Rivercross speedboat across the sand with disastrous consequences which were caught on camera. In the clip, Hugo is joined by a friend in a blue speedboat which hurtles out into the water as they try to build up speed. The pair then head directly towards dry land at speeds of 25 mph (40 kmph). Hugo braces himself but as they make contact with the sand embankment the boat goes airborne for a few seconds. It returns back to the ground with a thud and the impact causes it to flip over, much to the horror of the spectators who begin to scream. Incredibly, neither Hugo, who is expecting a child with Caroline at the end of September, nor his friend were injured and their vessel survived with just minor scratches to its paint.
