The Meat Lobby: How the Meat Industry Hides the Truth | Investigative Documentary from 2016

In 2015, the WHO listed one of the additives in processed meats as carcinogenic. That same additive was nearly banned in America in the 1970s – until lobbying from the meat industry discredited the scientists. We reveal how, to impede or halt regulations on certain additives, lobbyists have been working in the shadows for decades. At the heart of this strategy are the scientists who collaborate, who receive generous compensation for studies that promote meat consumption. In conjunction with this, those whose work finds health risks associated with meat are ‘shot down’. From Brittany to Denmark, through California and Wisconsin, director Sandrine Rigaud conducted a year-long investigation on the tactics of the meat industry.

  1. Homemade ham is also pink. Nitrite curing salts are safe at the levels needed to cure meat and is found naturally in many greens. Everything can be a poison, it all depends on the dose. Eating a lot of cured meats everyday is bad for you. Eating a lot of uncured meat everyday is a little less bad for you but still bad. Eat meat in moderation. If you want to find out how ham is made the find a recipe! P.S. it doesn't need to be injected, that was added to make it sound more scary.

  2. Good job. Thank you. We need more truth like this, people need to know and people should stop buying certain products, only that way the industry would make changes

  3. The population and humanity are purposefully and systematically poisoned with chemical additives! For sane people, this became obvious many years ago. But most of all, it scares and enrages that one or even a group of ordinary people are not able to resist it.

  4. The vegetable industry is no better glyphosate on wheat crops, monsanto pesticides all of which have been linked to cancer. At least the meat industry puts "nitrates" in ingredients on their processed meats so you know when you're buying them and can make an educated choice. The vegetable industry on the other hand doesn't have that same kind of transparency but you will never see them make a documentary about that.

  5. Fun Fact: Sodium Nitrate is listed in the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines.

    It's not the NaNO3 that is carcinogenic but Nitrosamines that can be formed during the cooking process. To tackle that problem, meat processor or meat product manufacturer also put ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to inhibit the formation of Nitrosamine.
