Alfie Evans (pictured left) has died aged just 23 months after a long-running battle over his treatment for a degenerative condition. Little Alfie captured the hearts of the nation and beyond as his parents Kate James, 20, and Thomas Evans (pictured outside hospital), 21, fought medics and High Court lawyers to continue his life support. Hundreds of supporters gathered outside Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool where the toddler had been in a coma since December 2016. Despite an intervention from the Pope who rallied to grant him Italian citizenship this week, he died at 2.30am on Saturday. As the world reacts to the news, we look back at Alfie’s short but eventful life.

  1. The very fact that people are more concerned about the PARENTS RIGHTS and what they get to do and say is exactly why these situations happen. They are not the ones dying. The NHS staff/doctors should always be the ones making the most humane and dignified decision for the patient/CHILD – this is not about the parents, it's about the child, stop making it anything otherwise..

  2. So sad 😭😭 R.I.P little man love you loads! It’s so wrong what the court does and it should be the parents right to say when he was a strong fighter god bless hope to see you one day good bye for now gorgeous baby Alfie ❤️❤️ my support goes out to Alfie’s family members 😘😘

  3. I’m a young guy well I say 30 so not too young lol. my daughter was in Alder Hey – and it was horrible , she’s fine now though. I don’t have many feelings , but this has actually touched me – and made me have a little cry 😪 so heart breaking! and very touching story.

  4. Ephesians 6:12-13 King James Version (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
