It was the first time the Shen Yun Performing Arts performed for audiences in Reno, Nevada. The New York-based company was so popular, a performance was added during its run from Feb. 28 to March 1 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
Mark Ashworth, President of the Board at the center, saw Shen Yun for the first time.
“They’re all very, very talented and most accomplished. As a drummer myself, I enjoyed the drums early on in the first half of the show, and I enjoyed the Mongolian horsemen as well,” he said.
“To have Shen Yun on our stage is truly an honor for us, and we’re so glad that you chose us to bring your show to town. We are overwhelmed by the response from the city of Reno, relative to sold-out performances for Shen Yun,” said Ashworth.
Much of traditional Chinese culture is divinely inspired. Audience members appreciate the way it’s presented.
“The presentation of the Chinese culture and its history, through dance and music, is evident and is carried to the audience by the performance of the artists on stage,” said Ashworth.
He added: “I would encourage anyone who has never had the opportunity to attend a Shen Yun performance, to take the opportunity to do so. And we hope that you’ll return to Reno again.”
Jim Petrie, president of Renown Bearing LLC, said: “Everything was superb. Everything! Well done! Well done! And I also liked the introductions to the dances, which were both in Chinese and in English.”
Bruce Hahn, supervising attorney in Washoe County, said: “The performance, it’s uplifting. It’s meaningful, more than just the dance and the grace. It’s spiritually uplifting, and I’m grateful for that. It’s a message of renewal and peace that’s available if we choose it.”
