The shares in European Airlines and other travel companies fell this Monday because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis. This is after the European governments issued further travel restrictions for non-essential travels. However, they are going to keep borders open in order to keep the internal market functioning.

Etihad, an Abu Dhabi national airline sees travel demand improvement in the second half of 2021. However, they do not expect a full recovery before 2024.

In the UK, the government is introducing a traffic light system to ensure safe travel. Countries will be categorised based on green, amber and red. This is based on criterias such as infection rates, vaccine rollout and border measures. Travellers would be able to visit green countries without quarantining on their return; amber countries would involve a period of quarantine; and red countries would be no-go zones.

Airfare spending has already risen up by 13% in comparison to this time last year. Travellers aged between 72 and 93 who have most likely received vaccinations are spending 6 times what they were spending.

Fun travel fact: Did you know that India’s trains transport roughly around 23 million passengers a day.
